Sneak Peek: MyCA, Boards, and What We’ve Been Building | Masset Journal Entry #12

Sneak peek at MyCA, our new content sidekick, plus product updates, Boards launch, and lessons from customer interviews. Masset 2.0 is close.

August 27, 2025

We Took a Summer Break. Kind Of.

We didn’t plan to disappear. Fridays just kept getting overtaken by product launches, demos, and the usual startup whirlwind. It wasn’t intentional. But it was necessary.

That said — (em dash! ) it’s good to be back. We’ve got a lot to share this time, so here’s a quick catch-up on what we’ve been working on and where things are heading.

Introducing: MyCA (My Content Assistant)

We've been quietly working on something new — and this week, Tyler got the first look at the new site for it. We’re calling it MyCA.

What is MyCA? For now, it’s a sneak peek. But here’s what we can tell you:

  • It’s built to turn every teammate into a content superhero.
  • It’s a way to pull all your content into one smart, cohesive experience.
  • And no, we’re not replacing people — we’re making them better at what they already do.

We’ve still got work to do, but the vision is clear: give teams tools that augment them, not replace them. More on MyCA soon.

Why We (Still) Buy Design

Tyler put it best: “Throw a blank page in front of me, and I’m lost.”

We’re not designers. We’ve never pretended to be. But we know good design when we see it, and more importantly — we know how much time it saves to start with something solid.

Whether it’s a $70 theme or a UI kit for our app, buying design has consistently been a smart move for us. It lets us move faster without compromising the feel of the product.

Boards: Curated Content, Built-In

A big request from customers lately has been: “Can we have a landing page for content?”

So we built one. We’re calling them Boards — and they’re now in beta.

Here’s the idea:

  • Most Masset users just search and go. But sometimes you need a curated, guided experience.
  • Boards let you create dynamic landing pages that update automatically with the latest assets.
  • Perfect for onboarding, campaigns, or anytime someone’s asking “Where do I start?”

This isn’t meant to replace tools like Notion. We’re not building a wiki. We’re just making it easier for people to find what matters — fast.

Bonus: we’re baking Boards into Slack, HubSpot, and more. Because content should live where your team already does.

Why “Wow” Interviews Work

On Ben’s side, we’ve been doing something we call Wow Interviews — part of our Lean Startup discipline.

How it works:

  • We show early ideas (like MyCA) to our target users.
  • We score their reactions.
  • If the average score isn’t high enough, we rethink it. If it is — we build.

The results have been better than we expected. Instead of waiting until version 3 to get it right, we’re baking real feedback into version 1.

Even better: these interviews give us ideas we never would’ve come up with on our own.

If you’re a founder: seriously consider doing this. Start with a simple question — What’s the #1 problem you’re trying to solve right now? — and just listen.

Balancing Customer Feedback with Market Insight

There’s a tension we try to keep in balance:

  • Our current customers want better versions of what we already do.
  • The broader market wants something else — maybe adjacent, maybe totally new.

So we listen to both. We build for today’s customers while keeping an ear to tomorrow’s needs. And we try to stay honest with ourselves: we don’t know everything.

But our users? They’ll tell us. With their feedback, their budgets, and their loyalty — or lack of it.

What’s Next

MyCA's not a pivot. It’s not a new direction. It’s Masset 2.0 — the next evolution of what we’ve always been building toward.

And we’re excited to keep building it with you.

If you want a sneak peek at MyCA, or want to help shape where we go next — reach out. We’re always looking for people to interview, brainstorm with, or just nerd out about content with.

Until next week,
Tyler and Ben
