How Do I Upload Google Drive Content/Assets into Masset?

Learn how to upload Google Drive files—standard and proprietary—into Masset for seamless access, AI indexing, and content collaboration.

Uploading content from Google Drive into Masset is simple — but it’s important to know that there are two types of content you might be working with:

  1. Standard File Types (like PDFs, Word Docs, images, etc.)
  2. Google Proprietary File Types (like Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides)

We’ll walk you through how to upload both.

Uploading Standard File Types from Google Drive

Standard files (such as PDFs, Microsoft Office documents, images, etc.) can be uploaded directly to Masset, but first, you'll need to make them accessible from your computer's file system.

Step 1: Install Google Drive for Desktop

To access your Google Drive files like any other file on your computer, install the Google Drive desktop app:

Once installed, your Google Drive will show up as a drive or folder on your computer (via File Explorer on Windows or Finder on macOS).

Step 2: Upload to Masset

Now that your Google Drive files are available locally:

  1. Go to the Upload section in Masset.
  2. Select files or folders from your system as you normally would.
  3. Click Upload, and you’re done!

These files will now be stored directly in Masset and available for all standard workflows.

Uploading Google Proprietary Files (Docs, Sheets, Slides)

For Google-native content like Docs, Sheets, or Slides, the process is a little different — but just as easy.

Step 1: Use the Google Drive Integration on Masset

  1. Head to the Upload section in Masset.
  2. Click the Google Drive button.
  3. Sign in and grant access to your Google account if prompted.
  4. Select the Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides you want to add.

Instead of copying the file itself, this creates a live link to the document within Masset.

Why use this method?
This ensures your proprietary content is indexable by Masset’s AI. That means your Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets will be fully searchable and included in AI Content Conversations and other search features across the platform.
